Cloves  are the dried flower buds of a tree native to the Maluku Islands (also known as the Spice Islands) in Indonesia. These buds are harvested before they bloom and then dried, turning them into the small, reddish-brown, nail-shaped spice commonly used in cooking and traditional medicine.
