Cinnamomum is a genus of evergreen aromatic trees and shrubs belonging to the laurel family, Lauraceae. The most well-known species is Cinnamomum verum, also called true cinnamon or Ceylon cinnamon, which is the source of the spice cinnamon. However, other species within the genus are also used commercially and are often collectively referred to as "cinnamon"
